The EBSCOhost platform includes a set of databases which help support studies in Education.

British Education Index

Covers all aspects of education from pre-school to Higher education, mainly indexing UK and some international academic journals, from 1974 onwards.   The index is searchable by educational level and age group.  This database provides article citations, not full text.  However, you can use the Find-it buttons to link through to full text held at the University of Dundee Library & Learning Centre.

ERIC (Education Resource Information Centre)

Indexes a wider range of materials than the British Education Index, covering research reports, conference papers and books in addition to journal articles, back to 1966.  The index is compiled by the US Department of Education and covers literature relevant to US education.

Child Development & Adolescent Studies

Covers a range of resources relating to the growth and development of children up to the age of 21

Additional useful indexes include Educational Administration Abstracts (covers all areas of educational leadership, management and research) ,  and Education Abstracts (covers all levels of education & teaching methods).

These databases can all be ‘cross searched’ at the same time by selecting multiple indexes on the EBSCOhost platform.  Select one of the databases from your subject guide, or from the A-Z list of E-resources and you can then go to ‘Choose databases’ and select additional titles to be searched, as below.

Results can then be narrowed using the options on the left menu of the EBSCOhost platform, for example by Publication date or subject area.  Results can also  be saved, printed, emailed or exported to Bibliographic software such as EndNote by selecting the small blue icon at the top right of a citation, as below.
