A simple act of vandalism

‘VOTES FOR WOMEN’ – the suffragette movements slogan.  The deliberate targeting of the king by stamping over his face on that side of the penny. The suffragettes knew who’s attention they wanted. They were trying to get attention from the male authoritative figures that were suppose to be upholding the law. I find it interesting that the designer is not known to this day. to me this design is successful  as I’m interested in the idea that is comparing the worth of the coin with how much women’s right to vote is worth.

‘good design’ to me is about the message behind the design whether that be protest piece, or to educate, for example for the environment such as incorporating sustainable materials into the design. ‘good design’ should promote social change it should be getting people to ask questions, in order to get justice.
