Call for Research Proposals
Running With Scissors will bring together a huge resource of design researchers for three full days. We invite you to propose a research project that exploits the possibilities this conference raises. This will be different to a workshop in that it can happen at any point in the conference and in any location. (Strictly by negotiation). The research proposals are due for submission by 17th September 2018. There are no abstract submissions for these, rather submission of the final proposals only.
Call for Workshops
A Workshop is a 2-hour long, facilitated interactive session for groups of up to 20 people, of learning through doing to explore ideas, practices, understanding and new methods. Proposals (of 600 words and a maximum of three images) are invited. They are to demonstrate a demand or interest for the subject area. For example, is there a community in place already? Is there a Special Interest Group? The workshop proposals are due for submission by 17th September 2018.
We are delighted to launch the EAD 2019 Dundee conference website! It shares information about our Call for Participation as well as venue details. With exactly one year to go, the team are busy planning and organising the conference so the social and cultural elements dovetail beautifully with scholarship to offer our participants, partners and visitors an exceptional experience.
#EAD2019Dundee
We’re also very pleased to announce Dundee as our home for 2019. Dundee has spent years wilfully disobeying the paths trodden by its bigger siblings, evolving on its feet and taking risks that have borne some singularly impressive fruit.
All of which makes it the perfect host for this year’s conference theme RUNNING WITH SCISSORS. There’s nowhere more apt to discuss disruption, creative disobedience and taking risks than one of Europe’s most creatively disobedient, risk taking-cities.
All of this is to say nothing of Dundee’s beautiful riverside situation, central location and easy access to the rest of Scotland. Nor its brand new V&A museum, nor its UNESCO city of design status. And let’s not forget our host, the superlative, number-one-for-design* art School in Scotland, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD).
