A series of workshops, seminars and masterclasses to help you enhance your essay writing!

8 – 12 October
EssayFest18 is a week of events, organised through partnership with the Academic Skills Centre, DUSA and the Centre for Technology and Innovation in Learning, which will focus on what you need to know or ask about essay writing through various workshops, masterclasses and drop-ins.
Find out how to:
- answer the question properly
- conduct effective research
- structure your essays
- write in an appropriate academic style
- proofread and edit your work
Dates
Monday 8th – Friday 12th October 2018
All events are located on the city campus and are free – just turn up on the day. We also provide writing spaces where you can do some focussed writing amongst other people who are doing the same thing.
Event Types
Launch Event: All are welcome to join us for the launch of EssayFest18 week. Hear about the plans for the week and leave your questions and suggestions, which we will aim to respond to over the course of the week.
Workshops: A series of short, lively and interactive workshops breaking down key elements of the essay process, including skills tips and advice on supportive technology. Each 30-minute workshop runs twice.
Masterclasses: A series of longer workshops looking in depth at some key issues around essays.
English for International Students & Disability Services Workshops: A series of workshops run by EIS and Disability Services.
Writing Spaces: A communal writing space for students to focus on getting some writing done in a positive environment, free from distractions. Academic Skills tutors will be on hand at some of these to help with any queries.
Quick Query Drop-ins: Academic Skills tutors will be available all week for students who have quick queries about their essays.
Distance Learning Online Drop-ins: A day of drop-ins for our distance learning students, where they can speak to an academic skills adviser about their essay queries. Note: to access the drop-ins participants should go to the Academic Skills Toolkit on My Dundee (under My Organisations) and follow the instructions.
Closing Event and Launch of Essay Bites: Join us to celebrate the end of EssayFest18 and to learn about our new online resource, Essay Bites. All welcome.
