Share-enting 1

Share-enting is the act of parents publicising content of or about their children on internet platforms. The content creators benefit financially on the children’s success.  All celebrities are open to scrutiny and opinions of the public, but is it morally okay to let your children be the subject to this negative environment? Within this project we will argue the negatives and positives of share-enting, and whether ultimately in the future it will become a completely toxic atmosphere or if parents will change the way they show they’re children and will use the platform for good to positively benefit the child.

To glimpse Britain now would be a snapshot, a still representation of an adapting, ever-changing organism. An organism made up of its component nations, of its peoples and their cultures, their businesses and companies which bolster its economy. It is also so much more. Britain is a shared history which stretches back as a state for 300 years. So what does the future hold?

What will Britain look like in 2071? Will there be such a thing as Britain? Will the Conservative Party continue to spread joy and happiness to a grateful population? Was Star Trek: The Next Generation correct in its prediction about Britain? Dear reader, an adventure awaits.

Our project is about Artificial Intelligence. We talk about what AI is, how it is used in the healthcare system currently, how it could be used in the future, and we also discuss any negatives and positives that may come out of it. We created our own survey to discover the public’s opinions and based our presentation on the results. Our report briefly talks about the history of AI and explains how AI can be used realistically in the future, but also focuses on the pros and cons of AI in healthcare. Will it be for the better? Or will it prove to be fatal?

Here is our powerpoint presentation.

Our group project is on the topic of Overpopulation. In our project, we will discuss what is overpopulation, the causes and the solutions. Often when we hear about overpopulation the first thing we think of is China one-child policy we will be looking into that further as well. We have based our group scenario on this topic and if it was introduced into the UK and what the consequences would be. Would it be ethical? Would it even be lawful?

Future of Animals – Group 2

We will be considering not only what has led the animals down a path leading towards extinction in the future, but what this future may look like. Between relentless and cruel poaching to destroying environments consequently creating habitats now incapable of providing and supporting their native species. Climate change is also having a significant impact on animals’ habitats, for example the arctic is suffering immensely leaving the habitats of polar bears insufficient with nowhere to live, hunt or rest consequently decreasing their rates of survival. Perhaps it’s not ‘what their future will look like?’ but ‘will they have one?’

Virtual Reality and Body Image

VR and Body Image Poster

We will be exploring Virtual Reality in the future and the impact that it could have on body image and mental health. Within the next 60-70 years VR could become a massive part of everyday life and people could become dependent on it. If people could design 3D avatars of themselves, would they make themselves ‘perfect’ and how would that affect them back in the real world? There could be many issues that come from an individual being able to change what they dislike about themselves, for example, body image issues, mental health problems and even addiction to VR.

The speed of the internet has affected many areas of our society in the modern world. Due to how fast information can get around because of the internet we have seen a rise of misinformation and fake news across social media platforms. The internet has also impacted our attention spans over the last ten years, which has had an impact on things such as the length of music. The internet has also seen the creation of cancel culture online, meaning the internet allows big groups people to quickly target people and attack them. These three sections have all been affect by the speed of the internet and will continue to do so as we head into the future.

What Will Be the Impact of Social Media in the Future?

Social Media Poster

To view the poster full screen right click and open in a new tab

Since the creation of social media, we have seen a tremendous increase in the popularity of platforms such as: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or even Reddit. Nowadays, the use of social media is part of our daily customs. But what is the impact of social media on the population, especially the youth? Social media is having a serious impact on the mental health of young people, leading to serve depression, or at worse even suicide. According to a 2019 Facebook survey Teen Mental Health Deep Dive, the impact of social media on young girls is severely damaging, especially concerning their body image, but regardless to demographic, the impact of cyber bullying and mental health from social media worrying. Will it be worse in the future?

The spread of information is not often regulated but in some case, such as when Donald Trump got banned from Twitter, regulation has been done which suggests further improvements in the future. When we can say that spreading information is useful in a way, as we saw with the use of Twitter by Donald Trump, sometimes people are using social media to spread fake news. In the future, information will be regulated better to try to achieve a spread of truthful information.

Stanley Cohen’s theory of Moral Panic can be readily applied to social media and the spread of information. Cohen suggests that the media purposely acts to inaccurately portray “threatening” (to the societal norms) issues which has the impact of causing irrational and widespread fear amongst the public. We can see this most recently with the Toilet Paper Shortage of 2020 which saw mass media attention, which acted to panic shoppers and caused further shortage/supply issues.

To protect user’s privacy on social media, a user must be able to control their own privacy. They are only able to control this privacy if they possess the information necessary to make relevant choices[1]. Consumer knowledge and privacy should therefore be related to a consumer’s concern. If we link this to the platform with 2.9 billion monthly users, Facebook, these concerns have not been fulfilled. Facebook continues to have access to 45% of the population’s personal data and will likely have access to even more over the next ten years.  Facebook’s current response to privacy has been inadequate. Data acquired through social media as shown by the Cambridge Analytica Scandal is a tool/weapon of great power. Companies or states are likely to continue to exploit or mishandle this personal data. Therefore, I believe the future impact of social media on people’s privacy in to be one of encroachment, social medias are likely to be more of a threat to people’s privacy in the future.

Future of Animals – Group 1

Future of Animals Poster

The future of animals is bleak. Human action has forced animals out of their destroyed habitats and natural ecosystems and into a diminishing world of uncertainty. Those lucky enough to have their homes are poached, traded, exploited and domesticated. Climate change has and continues to shatter broken animal homes such as polar bears finding themselves starving and moving to higher ground. Fish, turtles and birds find themselves strangled, blinded and injured by castaway plastic and litter degrading their environment. Tigers and other jungle cats find themselves dwindling in numbers while their poached ancestors are hauled on safari trucks and driven away. Elephants and rhinos find themselves tuskless and broken while their horns are sold for ivory.

The extinction rate is higher than ever before and the natural extinction rate is between 1,000 and 10,000 times higher. By the year 2100. how many more will we have lost?

What would the world be without animals?

However, I would recommend that you don’t do that. The image on your page should be your poster which will be inserted for you. You can however include links and these can be copy and pasted in the same way.
