3D Printing for All: Breaking Interdisciplinary Borders

CreateSpace Student Officers Ranya Al Ghazi and Desmond Manangazira held an excellent online session on 3D printing basics this week, covering everything you need to know to get started with 3D printing at the CreateSpace.  A recording of the session can be found below, and the slides are also available to view.

Unfortunately, the 3D printing equipment at the CreateSpace is still out of bounds for students due to COVID restrictions but there is plenty you can get stuck into on the design side from home.  As a student, you can request free access to product design software Fusion 360 which will allow you to build 3D print models.  You can also find inspiration for print designs from community websites such as Thingiverse and Pinshape.

Don’t forget students and staff at the university also have access to LinkedIn Learning where there are lots of instructional videos and courses available on the topic of 3D printing.

We are excited to see the designs you create when we reopen for 3D printing in the near future.
