Your Careers Service

A very warm welcome from the University of Dundee Careers Service. I’m Ruth Cawston, a qualified Careers Adviser with responsibility for Humanities, Politics and International Relations and for Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. I am also the module tutor for the Internship Module, a Level 2 module delivered by the Careers Service which incorporates a 30-hour quality work experience placement. I support students and graduates at every stage of their career journey – whether you have a definite career plan or are only just beginning to think about what’s next after university.

I have designed this website to signpost you to helpful resources to help you explore your career options. You may also wish to discuss your career ideas with a Careers Adviser – find out how here or read on below.

1-2-1 Careers Meetings and Quick Queries

Our pre-bookable 1-2-1 careers meetings can be either in-person or online via MS Teams. These are 30-minute appointments with a Careers Adviser where you can discuss any stage of your career planning. Whether you are a student or a graduate, these appointments can be booked via the CareersPortal. If you have a quick query, you can access our in-person drop-in with a Careers Adviser. In semester time, this runs 11am-1pm daily at The Careers Service (on Wednesdays it is at the Enquiry Centre). During the summer months, we run our drop-in on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Quick queries are perfect if you want some advice on your CV or have a quick question to ask.

E-guidance

If you would like to ask us a question, have your CV or application reviewed, go to the ‘ask a question button’ on the CareersPortal and an adviser will reply to your question. Queries are being dealt with Monday to Friday on a daily basis so we come back to you pretty quickly! There are no silly questions so please do get in touch.

Practice Interviews

Do you have a job interview coming up? Consider booking in for a Practice Interview where a Careers Adviser will develop some questions for you and conduct a practice interview with you. It’s a great opportunity for you to practice your answers and receive feedback on your interview performance. To book a Practice Interview please email us on careers@dundee.ac.uk

We also have fantastic video interview software you can use to practice. More information and resources can be found here

I look forward to meeting you soon!
