The Nature Disconnect – A2 Inspiration Board (2)

A2 Inspiration Board

For the Inspiration board I included some photos of activities I like to do whilst I’m outdoors, like camping and hiking. This has also helped me think about my clients and the purpose of my ideas. There are some animals and flowers that link into the colour scheme and overall texture on the page, I incorporated these to make me think about the lasting effect on the landscape and the animals that might reside there already as I wouldn’t want to put them out of a home. I stuck on some leaves, pine cones and other things I found on week two’s trip to Tentsmuir. I sectioned my board into five and gave them all different jobs:

  • The centre is a main focus point but to encourage people’s eyes to work from the outside in, I made the picture opaque. This photo also links in to every other section because of the tent peg, the colour sample cards complimenting the tent and the pine needles relating to the type of tree in the image.
  • The top left corner focuses on hiking and the autumnal colours with the yellow-orange sunset linking with the bird and the hiker’s yellow backpack. This links to the different sections of the page through colour but also through the use of texture as the crinkled leaves are found in nearly every section of the page.
  • The top right corner focuses on nature in general with the photo of Tentsmuir taking centre stage along with some pine needles I found on the forest floor which I have also considered making into models.
  • For the bottom left corner, I tried to focus on terrain and things you’d find on Tentsmuir’s forest floor, like fern, stones and pine needles.
  • The bottom left corner also demonstrates things that can be found on Tentsmuir’s forest floor, like wood, tree bark and different types of moss. I have also included a picture of fire which I feel ties this side in with the rest of the page as it shows how destructive humans can be when they were “connecting” with nature.
  • All over the board I included inspirational quotes by famous people which I thought were important things to contemplate when it comes to the impact of nature in our everyday lives.
