In 2020 the ACG was updated with the help of Paul Fettes, Chris Kennedy, Fergus Taylor, Wong Tian Zhe, Jasitha Chandrasena, Brandon Tan and Sukhmoni Dhaliwal. The ACG is based on the original site designed in 2010.

Feedback from existing Foundation Doctors and medical students was sought to assess day-to-day requirements for the guide, and to choose new content. The website structure was redesigned around a new, simple layout more responsive to mobile devices. We hope this has made the ACG more accessible throughout a shift; on the move and without a ward computer.

The original site with over 250 pages was reviewed for outdated content.

Guidelines were replaced with updated versions. We’ve linked these to their original locations on Staffnet to highlight related content and aid future updates.

We’ve removed extraneous detail, and we’ve added new guidelines and tools that Foundation Doctors use frequently, such as the gentamicin calculator, antibiotic man and electrolyte replacement guides.

In August, we released the updated ACG to the incoming cohort of FY1s.

Our plan is to keep updating and adding content to the guide when helpful. We hope to gain more feedback on the new guide to assess how well we’ve done and guide our future efforts, which you can contribute to here.

The original guide was made with the following team;

Chris Kennedy, TILT setup platform and website. Andrew Melvin has contributed to the editing, design and content of this site. Kirsty McNeil has provided highly imaginative illustrations for many of the sections. Jessica Thompson did the wonderful drawings of aortic dissection in the vascular surgery section. Paul Fettes, Senior Medical Lead.
