Hello,
I’m Stephanie Brewer and I’ve created these web pages especially with Science and Engineering students in mind. I’m the Careers Adviser for the School of Science & Engineering and each discipline has it’s own page where you can find out more about career pathways; further study; work experience; graduate opportunities and other useful resources.
The subject you’re studying is an obvious place to start exploring careers however as there is so much crossover in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), I would encourage you to also have a look at other subject pages which interest you.
Visit these pages on a regular basis to learn more about:
- Ideas and inspiration of where your degree could lead
- Information around postgraduate study and research
- Vacancies, work experience, opportunities and related resources
Key Sites:
Visit our CareersPortal for to access a wide range of Careers related services including booking an appointment.
Gradcracker – Gradcracker is an excellent website aimed specifically for Science, Technology, Engineering and Technology students. It’s a great place to start if you’re looking for placements / internships and graduate opportunities. The site also offers many additional features including employer webinars, information on employers and industry sectors such as the Automotive Industry, Finance, Renewable and many others.
More about me
I’ve been a Careers Adviser here since 2006 and it really is a role where you never stop learning! Since completing my postgraduate diploma in Careers Guidance, I’ve worked with students and graduates across many disciplines. The breadth of opportunities available to Science and Engineering students is really exciting right now.
Previously, as a European Business Studies graduate, I’ve held graduate jobs in Healthcare analysis; market research; finance and export – I know that career paths aren’t necessarily linear! I’ve also lived, worked and studied in 4 different countries as well as London which is like a small country in itself! These experiences have given me a real insight into graduate opportunities and challenges as well as making a transition to a new career and sector. In my working life I’ve always worked with a diverse range of people and with colleagues from many different STEM backgrounds.
