Welcome to the 2024 run of the Dr as Digital Teacher SSC and our online teaching space. I’m looking forward to meeting you all on Monday afternoon when I’ll give you a wider overview of the SSC.

This site is the online learning hub for the SSC where I’ll be posting the online tutorials that form some of the teaching in the first couple of weeks. I’ll also use this space to post additional supporting content and links to resources that you might find useful.

Over the coming weeks we’ll explore what the roles of the teacher are and teaching and learning in a digital world. We’ll start off by looking at the digital landscapes that we live our personal and student lives in. It’s important for  teachers to understand who their learners are, what level of study they are, what prior knowledge they may have. As we adopt more and more digital approaches in teaching it’s also essential to have an understanding of how our learners use technology and how they might have to use in the workplace as professionals.

To help prepare for the first session I’d like you to take a look at the first tutorial on Digital Identities and Learning Landscapes and read a couple of the papers referenced there and complete the mapping activity. We’ll then use these to prompt the initial class discussions.
