What is The Bigger Picture?
Doctors and healthcare, do not exist in isolation, but have a significant impact on society. In turn, many aspects of society, politics and culture impact the practice of medicine. Designed for use during the MBcHB curriculum, It is important for the students to appreciate a broad range of topics which are either not covered at all, or only partially discussed, within the standard medical curriculum. The Bigger Picture aims to introduce students to these topics.
It was important for the infographic/illustration to include the following elements:
- Disability
- Racism
- AI
- Waste/climate change
- Communicating risk
- Age, gender and ethnicity
- Complaints
- Advocacy
- Violence and Abuse
- Refugees
- Fake news and media skills
- Spiritual Health
- Politics and Health
- Human Trafficking
- Private healthcare, entrepreneurship and healthcare systems
- Homelessness
