Overview
Project Title: ‘Olfactory Pathway’ Illustrations
Project Sponsor: Dr Richard Green, ENT Consultant
TILT Medical Artist: Eve Laws
Created to supplement undergraduate ENT lecture material, It was agreed that the anatomical illustration would show a sagittal section of the head, with odourant molecules entering the nasal cavity and reaching the olfactory epithelium, bulb, tract and cortex. The deeper levels of the pathway would be illustrated in the cellular diagram. To create detailed illustrations with shading and blended colour, Adobe Photoshop was used for the finished pieces.
Drafts were created using Procreate on the iPad Pro 2020. Tablet drawing is particularly enjoyable – feels like traditional sketching, without the clean-up of the eraser shavings!
