James Riley, radiologist and cancer specialist, was a member of staff at the University from 1950 to 1977.
Riley is perhaps best known for his work on mast cells and the development of antihistamines but he was also a keen photographer. Archive Services hold his papers which relate to his research and include some of the images that he took. Many relate to local history including this image of the destruction of the Royal Arch.
One of Riley’s passions was railways and the collection reveals some fascinating glimpses of Dundee’s railway past.
