This aerial view was taken in the early 1960s and shows the area around campus of Queen’s College, Dundee, which became the University of Dundee in 1967. The campus was rapidly expanding at this point. The recently built Tower Building was about to be extended resulting in the demolition of the last of the original College main buildings (seen to the left of the Tower). To the south of the Nethergate can be seen some of Dundee’s extensive railway yards which over the next three decades would be greatly reduced. Several buildings in the photograph have been demolished including much of the Hawkhill area.
