To mark this year’s Remembrance Day commemorations Dr Kenneth Baxter from the University Archives has made two short films about soldiers who died in the First World War. The first looks at two young men who lost their lives in the conflict, George Paton and James Braid. Braid’s letters to his family which are in the University Archives are a fascinating but poignant read.

The second film looks at members of University College Dundee who lost their lives in the war or as a result of the conflict. Kenneth explains how his research has uncovered many more casualties than are displayed on the University’s war memorial.
