The University’s Botanic Garden has teamed up with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh to bring you this wonderful workshop happening in November.

Frosts, winds and shortening days expose the underlying structures of plant forms and show new life waiting to happen in seed heads, pods, nuts, and berries. Winter brings both subtle and dramatic colours and an astonishing array of interesting shapes and textures which are a delight to paint and draw.

In this weekend workshop we will use the traditional careful drawing and watercolour painting skills of botanical illustration to explore and record the fascinating world of Winter plant life.

We will begin with observational drawing techniques to create accurate recordings of the plant subjects, then move on to discover ways to recreate their special colours in watercolour paint.

This course is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced painters. Whatever your level of skill, Jacqui and Sarah will be on hand to help with techniques and approaches to working with this wonderful subject matter in the magnificent setting of Dundee Botanic Garden.

Friends of Dundee Botanic Garden will receive a 10% discount on course fees.
